Programme

An evening of both trumpet and piano based trio. These two EP's are both the debut releases for Philips and Grigoryan as well as the first releases for a new, Amsterdam based label and artist collective “Fleaboy Records.”
Both Amsterdam based, Philips is originally from the United States, while Grigoryan hails from Armenia. Both trio's draw on their leader's eclectic musical background, both improvisational and compositionally.

An evening of two sets:

The Allison Philips Trio was started by the trumpet player Allison Philips in the Fall of 2014 soon after relocating from New York City to Amsterdam . The trio consists of Allison Philips, a recent alumnus of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and The Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Alessandro Fongarro, and Robin van Rhijn. The group plays mostly original compositions drawing on their eclectic backgrounds and surrounding landscapes.

Started by Armenian jazz pianist Liya Grigoryan in 2013. The trio plays original compositions that mix non-western rhythmic ideas with harmonic ideas of classical composers, while featuring a strong melodic concept.
Liya Grigoryan Trio has won many contests such as: Getxo Jazz (Basque Country, Spain), Keep on Eye Jazz Award (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and Jazz in Padova ( Italy).
At the moment the trio includes Louis Navarro on bass (Amsterdam based, originally from France), and Arthur Hnatek on drums (Switzerland) Arthur can be seen playing with Tigran Hamasyan Trio, Erik Truffaz quartet, and Dan Tepfer Trio.
