Band leader and composer George Dumitriu, steers his trio into new musical directions by cultivating elements of oral and musical Romanian folklore. Offering insights into traditional Romanian wisdom, the structure of the new album is built on four Romanian proverbs spoken by Mama-mare (the composers grandmother). *

Proverbe, de tweede plaat van DUMItRIO, creëert bekoorlijke sfeer met Roemeense nuance, ondersteunt door de narratieve-intuïtieve composities en spontane improvisaties. Leider en componist George Dumitriu stuurt het trio steeds in nieuwe richtingen door het kweken van elementen van gesproken en muzikale Roemeense volkskunde in hun repertoire. Zij bieden inzicht in traditionele Roemeense wijsheid door de plaat structureel te baseren op vier Roemeense spreekwoorden afkomstig van Mama-mare (oma van de componist).

Proverbe, the sophomore album of DUMItRIO, creates an entrancing ambiance with Romanian flavours, supported by narrative-intuitive compositions and spontaneous improvisations. Band leader and composer George Dumitriu, steered the trio into new musical directions by cultivating in their repertoire elements of oral and musical Romanian folklore. The 3 musicians performed together in venues and festivals such as Bimhuis Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, Flagey Hall Bruxelles, 12Points (Dublin), Akbank Jazz (Istanbul), Skopje Jazz Festival (Macedonia), Grâna Jazz (România), etc.

George Dumitriu collaborated with Ambrose Akinmusire, Theo Loevendie, Michael Moore, Ab Baars, Benny Golson, Peter Herbolzheimer and Kaja Draksler. The slovenian drummer is a semifinalist of the Monk Competition inWashington. Magatelli is well known on the italian jazz scene, having worked with musicians such as Guido Manusardi.
