Programme

Franz von Chossy returns to his Piano-trio line up featuring Pat Cleaver on bass and Kristijan Krajncan on drums with a fresh new repertoire written during the past year.

Next to performing with his Quintet, which the Dutch press describes as one of the most fascinating and entertaining bands of the Netherlands, award-winning pianist Franz von Chossy has worked with his trio on a completely new repertoire, which they will present for the first time at the Splendor in Amsterdam.

Without a doubt, Franz von Chossy has succeeded in creating a coherent piece of music which clearly stands out from the usual crossover jazz.
-Christoph Giese, der Westen

With him, magic on the keyboard is pure alchemy and a mix of the most different sounds. He has proved in various jazz combos that he can subtly create a delicate balance between Orient and Occident, between jazz, classical music and pop and that he manages to let shine light and darkness.
And that is exactly what he is doing in a melodious and charming way in his second opus.
-Henning Bolte, Jazzthetik

A wonderful album by a great pianist.
-Dr. Peter Kleiß, Saarlaendischer Rundfunk

“A superb mix of musical genres ranging from modern classical music to jazz which at times surprises with a tiny note of Eastern European folklore.”
– German Newspaper, Der Westen

“Hauntingly beautiful”
– Bruce Lindsay, AllaboutJazz

Master of good taste”
– Jan Jasper Tamboer, Parool

He has released three CDs under his own name (“Awakening” 2006 – Challenge Records , “Pendulum” 2009 – Etcetera Records , “When the World Comes Home” 2012 – Jazzsick Records ) which have been praised by the international press. He has performed in over 50 countries and shared the stage with artists like Chris Potter, Branford Marsalis, Alex Simu, Minu Cinelu, Pascal Schumacher, Tineke Postma and Candy Dulfer. In 2016 he composed and produced the music for the Chinese musical “Wendo”, which is touring China and other Asian countries at the moment.
