Programme

After years of musical relationship with this distinguished piano player, the quartet has developed a tango repertoire rooted on the dance tradition of tango and explored the way this essence was always present during the later evolution of the style. For this, the piano playing of Gustavo is the most representative example. Gustavo Beytelmann has played in traditional tango orchestras in Argentina since his early beginnings as a musician and developed as a pianist and composer playing with artist such as Astor Piazzolla himself, and forming the prestigious trio TríoMosalini-Beytelmann-Caratini. Pannonica Quartet, winner of the Doble 8 International Tango Competition, has been developing and exploring a tango language for the saxophone quartet. This journey has brought them to play in tango salons all over Europe and Buenos Aires developing a close relationship with dancers and introducing the saxophone sound to them.
In Pannonica Quartet meets Beytelmann you will have the chance to listen to the unique sound that the quartet has developed, the magnificent playing of Beytelmann and the way in which the encounter of these artists has produced an unprecedented sound. With a repertoire that ranges from traditional tangos from the golden era until the more modern sounds of Piazzolla and beyond, allowing the audience to trace back these new sounds in tango all the way back to the roots.
