Famous South Indian singer Varijashree Venugopal performs with local stars

Varijashree Venugopal, or simply Vari, born and raised in Bangalore, India, is a rising star on the international jazz and world music scene. She is featured on Jacob Collier’s new album Djesse Vol. 4 and released her own debut album this year on the GroundUP label, founded in 2012 by Snarky Puppy’s bandleader, Michael League. On November 29, Vari will meet with a number of Amsterdam-based musicians who have been exploring South Indian techniques for years. This spontaneous encounter promises electrifying improvisations and innovative soundscapes.
