Café des Chansons feat. Charlotte Haesen

'Perles de pluie' - CD Release

During a Café des Chansons concert nothing else exists but the gracious interaction with the string quartet players (Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra), the beautiful stories of the French classics and Charlotte’s crystal clear voice, carrier of emotion. The delicate interplay between jazz singer Charlotte Haesen and the classical string quartet Café des Chansons inspired some of the leading Dutch arrangers to write just for them. As two dance partners from different disciplines they fly from chansons to chansons with striking humbleness and individuality. A huge boom of enthusiasm followed the release of their meanwhile sold-out debut album. It was named 'one of the most beautiful albums of the year' and received 5 stars in the leading Dutch press (Het Parool). Shortly after, Dutch TV shows were charmed by the combination of the ' fascinating voice and the sophisticated play of the strings' and revealed that Charlotte Haesen and her Café des Chansons could 'no longer remain a public secret' (Podium Witteman). The concert critics were overwhelmed by the 'beautifully intimate and authentic performance' at the summer festivals (Wonderfeel Festival,...). Café des Chansons delivers goose bumps with young and old, even if you don't speak French. Driven by her love for the French Chansons, they carefully selected the repertoire with gems of this genre: works by Barbara, Gainsbourg, Brel and Piaf, but also own work by the unconventional Charlotte Haesen.
