Michael Gieler
An evening of indulgence in romantic music
When he isn't playing in the Concertgebouw Orchestra or organising the playful IJ-salon concert series, Splendor musician and violist Michael Gieler occasionally has the urge to immerse himself in romantic music. He'll be fulfilling that wish tonight with the British pianist Lauretta Bloomer. And as a violist, you sometimes need to borrow from the repertoire of other instruments, such as Chopin's cello sonata.
Lauretta and Michael have performed together since their student years in Vienna. They play regularly in varying chamber music settings, but the duo version is their favourite. In this programme, they'll perform two works which are new for them; something they are looking forward to a great deal.
