Restart - The Achim Kaufmann/Michael Moore Duo Concert
New music from a 30-year old musical friendship
Splendor musician and jazz clarinettist/saxophonist Michael Moore moved from the US to The Netherlands in 1982, where he has been enriching the music scene for decades with his rich musical fantasy. As a member of the Instant Composers Pool (ICP) Orchestra, a leader of several own bands, and winner of the Boy Edgar Prize in 1986, he has become a central figure in the worldwide jazz scene. Today he will be playing with Berlin-based jazz pianist Achim Kaufmann, who lived in Amsterdam between 1996-2009 and quickly became a renowned name in the national and international improv scene. Michael and Achim have known each other for more than 30 years, and played in groups such as Trio Kamosc and the Gueuledeloup Quartet in the '90s and '00s.
Michael and Achim haven't had the chance to play together in the last three years, but in September they will have a short tour in the Netherlands and Germany. Time for some new ideas and new works, as well as some masterpieces from the jazz hero Herbie Nichols! "The music is a monument to sustained, unflinching (and deeply satisfying) introspection" (Greg Buium, pointofdeparture.org, 2015)
