Andrea Voets, musical journalist en harpist, neemt je mee in recente wereldgeschiedenis, verteld door millennials, die als kind gebeurtenissen meemaakten als het éénkindbeleid in China, de Iran-Irakoorlog en het narco-geweld in Mexico. Het publiek speelt een actieve rol: na elke scène is er ruimte om gedachten en gevoelens te delen. Zo krijgt elke avond een eigen vorm. De verhalen worden gedragen door live muziek van Splendor-musici Andrea Voets (harp & elektronica) en Sarah Jeffery (blokfluiten & stem), en van Yung Tuan Ku (vibrafoon & percussie).

Nothing Bigger Than Humanity invites you to feel what it means to be human in today’s world. In this gathering, we revisit recent world history across four continents, told by millennials who witnessed it first hand as children: an absurd war, an industrial tragedy, a mobilisation of musicians, and an all-encompassing social experiment.

By joining this event, you too become a witness to these stories. After each scene, all guests are invited to share their thoughts. These live reactions shape the course of the evening—no gathering will ever be the same.

All voices combined form one big testimony of global power dynamics—forces that disrupt even the most sincere human bonds, leaving people torn between deep love and great fear.
During Nothing Bigger Than Humanity, we break free from that impossible state by reconnecting with the shared humanity that unites us all.

The performance is carried by continuous live music by Sarah Jeffery (recorders & voice), Yung Tuan Ku (vibraphone & percussion) and Andrea Voets (harp & electronics).

The performance FOR REAL, a theatrical radio-show on what it means to matter, makes its New York debut at Next Wave Festival ‘25 at BAM. Ledenconcert
Splendor kan alleen de onafhankelijke vrijplaats zijn die het is, dankzij de leden die ons steunen. Wij betalen hen terug met dat waar wij voor leven: muziek. Elk jaar geven alle Splendormuzikanten één concert dat gratis toegankelijk is voor deze groep steunpilaren aan wie Splendor haar bestaan dag in dag uit te danken heeft. Samen met de vele andere events betekent dit dat onze leden voor €9,99 p/m (en €4,99 voor minima en studenten!) ruim 50 concerten per jaar gratis kunnen bezoeken - en ze op alle overige concerten korting krijgen. Geen slechte deal, toch?

Dankzij de leden kan Splendor onafhankelijk blijven, wat de enige manier is om échte vrijheid te behouden in programmering, experimenten, het nemen van risico's en het bieden van een springplank aan jonge, opkomende artiesten. Wie een andere plek kan noemen waar géén centrale programmeur is, waar elk moment last-minute concerten kunnen worden ingepland, waar geen backstage is en artiesten en publiek constant door elkaar lopen en met elkaar aan de bar hangen, waar mysterieuze hersenspinsels kunnen worden gepresenteerd die elders vaak als te riskant worden bestempeld, en die toch garant blijft staan voor hoge kwaliteit door de top van de Nederlandse muziekscene in deze creatieve speeltuin te laten rondrazen, die krijgt een gratis lidmaatschap!
