Animation Workshop

With Cartoon Saloon’s Rory Conway

Animator Rory Conway, from the acclaimed Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, is back in Amsterdam! He will lead this interactive workshop where participants from ages 6 upwards can enjoy getting into the world of movie animation. Using the Oscar nominated animation feature The Breadwinner as the theme and the story's cultural background, he'll discuss and show the various animation styles based on those. Rory will invite participants to get a taste of creating these different animation styles themselves and the process of telling the story.

A ticket for this workshop includes a screening of Cartoon Saloon’s Oscar nominated animation feature The Breadwinner (12+) at 16:30.

Rory is a visual concept artist based in Ireland, working with Cartoon Saloon and a graduate of Ballyfermot College Ireland. Rory holds a BA Honors degree in Animation and has received international awards for his short film ‘SHOOT’. He worked on Cartoon Saloon’s latest Oscar nominated and multi-award winning animation feature The Breadwinner.

Kilkenny based Cartoon Saloon is a three time Academy Award® and BAFTA nominated animation studio formed in 1999 by Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey and Paul Young, who met whilst studying animation in Ballyfermot Senior College Dublin. From award-winning shorts to Feature Films and TV Series, Cartoon Saloon has carved a special place in the international Animation industry.
