Memorial concert with music by Johnny & Jones, Marius Flothuis, Franz Schubert and John Dowland.
As a former bathhouse for the Jewish community in our neighbourhood, it is important for Splendor to organise a yearly memorial concert on May 4, the Dutch national memorial day. This year Antonii Baryshevskyi, Paul van Utrecht, Mike Fentross, Mattijs van de Woerd and Jan Willem Baljet will play music by Franz Schubert, John Dowland en Johnny & Jones. Also, you will hear Marius Flothuis' Aubade, written in 1944 in concentration camp Vught for a friend who was a flautist, and interned with him in the camp. The piece was broadcast over the camp's speakers at the time and will now be played the same way, performed by Emily Beynon.
