Four Amsterdam-based musicians team up to perform a few musical florilèges from the work of guitarist Fabien Vuattoux. A program that aims to draw a line between compositional extravaganza and improvised gesture, mixing both angular beats and poisonous twists. Highly contagious!
After playing together in various contexts, Fabien Vuattoux, Nico Chientaroli, Pedro Ivo Ferreira and Eloi Pascual-Nogué decided to combine their musical aspirations around the fall of 2023, under the name « Good Golden Frogs ». Despite gloomy weather and a great imbroglio of rehearsal schedules, diluted in endless Whatsapp conversations, they finally came together to create what could be a Panamanian celebration, an ode to all endangered (jazz) species around the world. I: Sad Songs (and Future Past Chants) emerges as a bouncing corpus, mixed with a gargantuan palette of influences and a touch of je-ne-sais-quoi that will definitely make the crowd be fond of.
