Carmen Quill & Melissa Weikart - een avond intieme avantpop uit Brooklyn
An evening of intimate avantpop from Brooklyn
Carmen Quill is a double bassist, vocalist, and composer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is recognized for her sound and versatility on the double bass, her captivating performances as a solo artist, and her intuitive sensitivity as an improviser. Her debut solo recording, Don’t Get Comfy / Nowhere (2020), “thrives on the meeting of reservation and vulnerability, and its songs feel as emotional and virtuosic as a power ballad yet are sparse and withholding as a Rembrandt” (Pitchfork).
Melissa Weikart is a pianist, vocalist and composer who was born in Paris, grew up in Boston, and moved back to France four years ago. She makes music to heal, airing out self-grievances and finding deeper answers to the riddles of life. Her music has since garnered national attention—she is the recipient of the Nancy Jazz emerging artist prize in 2022, and the Concours National de Jazz à la Défense instrumentalist prize. Her third and newest release, Easy (2025), is available everywhere.
The two songwriters met several years ago in Brooklyn, forming an instant musical connection. Their shared experimental ethos and captivating harmonic language displays a virtuosic delicacy and fragility that treats their audiences to constant wonder and surprise. On their 2025 European tour, they will each present a repertoire of solo songs, before coming together to perform several duets they have developed together.
