presents:
First meeting: Michael Moore & Pietro Aloi
Brazilian Choros & Cole Porter
Michael Moore invites the young (2002) Italian pianist Pietro Aloi to devise and perform a repertoire together. Both musicians have a love for Brazilian music and 'The Great American Songbook', so - why not combine the two worlds, North and South America?
'Choro' is a popular music style that originated in Rio de Janeiro at the end of the 19th century.
Like ragtime, tango and jazz it is a mix of European and African music - lots of counterpoint, modulations, syncopations.
In the 30s and 40s Cole Porter was one of the most important songwriters on Broadway;
he wrote both the lyrics and the music for his songs.
Come and enjoy the free interpretations of these beautiful songs.
Michael Moore - alto sax/clarinet
Pietro Aloi - piano
