Elegies & Echoes
Forgotten Jewish Music from Eastern Europe and Amsterdam
International top talents Elizaveta Agrafenina (soprano) and Dimitri Malignan (piano) bring the music of forgotten Jewish composers to life in Elegies and Echoes. The program highlights the expressive songs of Mieczysław Weinberg, Ignace Lilien, Felix Blumenfeld, and Samuil Feinberg – composers whose immense talent was often unjustly forgotten due to war, persecution, or geopolitical circumstances.
These works serve as symbols of a bygone era, of cities and lives destroyed, showing how music can be the only remnant of what once was. Featuring a wide range of styles and characters, the program takes the listener on a journey through half a century of hope, loss, and unforgettable beauty.
The concert includes a selection of dramatic and intimate songs, solo pieces, and chamber music, where the music serves both as an elegy and an echo of times long past.
