Lucebert, Parijs 1950

The reincarnation of poet-blower Lucebert presented by Solvanus Liebherr

In Paris, the poet and painter Lucebert discovers jazz music, but he is also confronted with his sympathy for the Nazis during the war years. He nervously develops into a poet-blower; he felt like a failed saxophonist. His wife Tony said “he would have liked to become a good saxophonist.” With him, we dream that he will be reincarnated as a real blower, as saxophonist Lucas Bakker – 16 years old.

Tonight, Lucas Bakker will play with Splendor musician River Adomeit and failed pianist Michiel Braam, who composes for the film IJdel Licht (Vain Light) about Lucebert's war years. After screening some test shots from the film, actors David Roos (Lucebert) and Ezra Koppejan (Juc) will perform an egg scene. The tone of the evening will be set by the famous egg Humpty Dumpty, how it penetrates Daoism and Lucebert's poetry.

The program consists of three sets with two short breaks.
Set 1: Humpty Dumpty, jazz classics with paintings by Lucebert and compositions by Lucas Bakker.
Set 2: IJdel Licht (Vain Light) with film screening and a theatrical scene. How Michiel Braam's music connects with Lucebert's poetry.
Set 3: Improvisation on compositions by Misha Mengelberg, interspersed with ‘Taoist’ poems by Lucebert and Solvanus Liebherr.
