Kairos Duo & Michael Moore & Wilbert De Joode
Four amazing musicians in an exciting improvised meetingKairos is a duo founded in 2016, consisting of the Japanese pianist Izumi Kimura, based in Dublin, and the percussionist and singer Gerry Hemingway, born in Connecticut and now living in Switzerland.
Together they have developed a shared, flawlessly understood musical language in which they effortlessly switch between formal structures, spontaneous improvisations, and their own distinctive interpretations of songs. This evening at Splendor marks their Dutch debut! First Kimura and Hemingway will play as a duo; later they will be joined by top bassist Wilbert de Joode and Splendor’s own Michael Moore.
Moore and Hemingway have had a musical relationship for almost forty years, so they know each other through and through. Expect a rich palette of textures, from exuberant to intimate, and perhaps a song here and there.
