To celebrate the release of his new classical-electronic album A Few Reflect the Heart with Delphian Records, the Irish pianist Seán Morgan-Rooney presents a special performance that combines music from the album with original films created together with cinematographer Boris Peters. The films seek to illustrate the album’s themes of nature and self-perception, conveying the inner emotional world of the performer through reflections, memories and scenes of the Irish nature in which he grew up. The performer’s mother plays a pivotal role in conveying his pastoral heritage through spoken memories and poetry.
The musical programme centres on Maurice Ravel’s Miroirs suite for solo piano, five pieces inspired by various images of nature. The suite is interspersed with Morgan-Rooney’s original compositions for piano and electronics, each of which is inspired by one of the four natural elements, air, fire, earth and water.
