Improv duos Luís Vicente/Vasco Trilla & Olaf Rupp/John Hughes join forces
Gravelshard is the collaboration of two duos, spread over Europe but connected through their love and expertise in the improvised music. Portuguese trumpettist Luís Vicente and Spanish drummer Vasco Trilla previously recorded the album A Brighter Side of Darkness while Berlin-based guitarist Olaf Rupp and British bassist John Hughes created the album plursathn.
These duos join forces in the quartet Gravelshard. In their own words: "the resultant sonic output of these four individuals' collision yield granular fields of broken dreams, shimmering in the waxing light. Melodies, never materializing, giving way to timbral details and vibrations heretofore unheard."
