PEAX Presents ALL EARS, a film with no visuals, on October 4 & 5 at the Uilenburgersjoel,.
PEAX, featuring Ties Mellema on saxophones and Barry Jurjus on percussion, offers an intense and unique listening experience with ALL EARS. By removing the strongest sensory stimulus—sight—ALL EARS becomes a concert that feels like a film. The musical pieces, interspersed with sound fragments, create a continuous performance.

The audience sits in the center of the beautiful synagogue, with the music moving around them. Your ears will let you "see" during ALL EARS.

The program consists of repertoire from the two albums PEAX has released: NEW UNIVERSE 2024 and RESET 2020. “International top quality,” and “Music bursting with zest for life,” (Parool). The premiere of REHEAT, a commissioned work from the radio program Muziekfabriek by Jet Berkhout, will also be performed.

The project is supported by the Cultuurfonds and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK), which praises PEAX: “The compositions of PEAX are authentic, with a unique signature that transcends existing genres.” PEAX uses a synthesis of styles to create a new musical universe.

Ties Mellema and Barry Jurjus share a deep love for musical diversity and compose pieces that resonate with the contemporary world. Trained as classical musicians, Barry and Ties decided it was time to create their own music—music that extends beyond the confines of the concert hall while still rooted in classical structures. PEAX, a group with a global perspective, draws inspiration from the multifaceted nature of modern society. They seamlessly blend the essence of minimal music with exhilarating dance beats, African rhythms, Latin sounds, and the electronic energy of drum and bass. PEAX both invigorates listeners and provides space for reflection.
