Li Muschi & Orfanoudaki X Pintó Duo

Songs of love: from Greek folklore to baroque

1st set LI MUSCHI

Love songs, songs about love, songs of lovers, songs in the key of love! Li Muschi - “The Flies” - is the trio of Gabriel de Oliveira (guitar), Sara Guidolin (cello, voice) and Katerina Orfanoudaki (harpsichord), formed with intent to explore the meaning of love in a variety of musical and thematic forms - erotic, romantic, familial love; friendly, ironic, dark, beastly…

In a program of originals and arrangements of material both recent and older, different languages, and research of poetic traditions meet with a humorous focus: expressions and metaphors of love through the animal kingdom. Like flies surrounding the decaying matter of stories, they buzz and sing in clouds of texture weaving around our sweetest and most absurd emotion.

Their songs will be highly influenced by their varied musical backgrounds - jazz, early baroque, traditional and pop - combined in one unified sound of their 3 string instruments, used both in conventional and non-conventional ways.

Gabriel de Oliveira - guitar
Sara Guidolin - voice, cello
Katerina Orfanoudaki - harpsichord

2nd set ORFANOUDAKI - PINTÓ DUO

Katerina Orfanoudaki and Ignacio Pintó explore together the limits of the unorthodox combination of harpsichord and contrabass.
Young and electric, they employ improvisation as a meeting point to create music that they find relevant. In the journey they are immersed, they strive to find links between free forms of improvisation and their own original compositions as well as material from composers like Xenakis, Satie, Bach and other forms of music like Greek Folklore and Gregorian Chant.

In every performance, they take advantage of their strong musical connection to challenge themselves in the creation of a sonic environment that traverses the boundaries of pure sound.

Ignacio Pintó - double bass
Katerina Orfanoudaki - harpsichord

Gabriel de Oliveira works with sound non-disciplinarily, spanning from a vibrant approach to guitar, saxophone and voice to cultural work and performance art. Gabriel is a Conservatorium van Amsterdam graduate and Berklee College of Music Aspire 2017 scholarship recipient, having featured on stage and on record with names in the range of (Clube da Esquina’s) Toninho Horta and Sun-Mi Hong, Mestre Anderson Miguel & Seu Estrelo and The Klittens, Oscar Jan Hoogland and members of Boogarins.

Sara Guidolin is an Italian vocalist and multi-instrumentalist based in Amsterdam. In her projects, she embraces a diverse array of styles, exploring free forms in songwriting while performing as a vocalist and playing both cello and piano.

Ignacio Pintó is a double bass player and composer from Spain. Although coming from a jazz background, serialism, extended techniques and free impro are some of the tools he uses in his mission to find meaningfulness through sound.

Katerina Orfanoudaki is a harpsichord player from Greece. She is active in the world of early music, as well as the contemporary and improvised music scene. She is especially interested in creating sonic and interdisciplinary performances, using her different musical influences combined with music improvisation as forms of creating.
