GenZ Voice Recitals: Keroncong & Other Travelling Melodies
A double recital full of movement — songs from near and far, beautiful and elusive as love itself
Splendor and Stichting VoorUit are happy to present "GenZ Voice Recitals”. This series of four double recitals offers the audience a fresh look at classical music through the lens of Generation Z. Eight talented voice students from the Conservatory of Amsterdam and their duo partners take you on a musical journey around the world, with each performance focusing on unique songs or arias from the country of origin of the performing singer.
The third stage: “Keroncong Anemoia” & “Travelling Melodies”
“Keroncong Anemoia” explores the intersections of traditional Indonesian ‘keroncong’ and Western art song, weaving together themes of nature-labor, love-memory, and war-change. Rooted in keroncong, a musical form that embodies Indonesia's native cultural history and significant Western influences, we aim to reflect how these universal themes transcend borders, resonating through both folk and classical traditions. While most of the program is performed in the standard piano-voice setting, the keroncong songs will be accompanied by violin and ukulele - two instruments essential to the genre.
