Swing in Savoy - Lindy Hop
Smashing closing party in the Savoy Ballroom with live swing band and Lindy Hop dancing
The festival started in Berlin, and ends in Harlem New York. At the conclusion of this festival, we transformed the Synagogezaal of the Uilenburgersjoel into the Savoy Ballroom filled with Lindy Hop dancing and a live swing band. We start off with a dance workshop for beginners by Jasper van Iperen at 7:30 p.m. that anyone who wants can join.
Savoy was a luxurious and stylish ballroom where white and black danced the Lindy Hop together. In a time of intense racial conflict, Lindy Hop was a dance where color or ethnicity played no role. So that place, with that dance, became a powerful symbol of being able to be yourself, respect each other, freedom and humanity.
Image makers
Lamps/light objects by Katelijne Davids, Willem Gorter, Sipke Huismans, Marina van der Kooi, Rob Logister, Harm Mouw, Saskia Pfaeltzer, Kevin Power, Marie Raemaker, Dick Simonis and Rudolf Valster once again illuminate the room. This time these are not the shadow lamps, as on Friday, but the light lamps.
Sound makers & dance
Live band: the Compass Ballroom Stompers.
For dance, we welcome Jasper van Iperen and all Lindy Hop dancers, and anyone else who just feels like swinging.

KlankKleurFestival 2025
The KlankKleurFestival 2025 presents a sparkling mix of visual art and chamber music. Through interaction between sound makers and image makers new adventurous combinations are created. During three days you can see, hear and experience the results of this mix in the Uilenburgersjoel in Amsterdam. The theme of edition 2025 (June 6-8) is Light and Shadow.
The festival consists of an exhibition and various performances, some of which are free of charge.
Participating visual artists have each made a shadow lamp and a light lamp. These take center stage and connect the beginning and end of the festival. The hall will be transformed twice: Friday evening into a Berlin café with the shadow lamps and Sunday evening into a New York dance hall with the light lamps.
Find the full program on the KlankKleurFestival website.
A passe-partout gives access to all concerts of the festival.
