They say you can find everything in Bach. But what happens when composers enter into dialogue with Bach—using his music as a point of departure? And what of dialogues with Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Scarlatti, or even anonymous 16th-century masters? Or the composer in dialogue with himself?
In the music of Svyatoslav Lunyov and György Kurtág, these layers unfold as a rich interplay of references, messages, signs and musical games.
