Drummer Ilia Rayskin presents his eclectic sextet
The highly promising drummer Ilia Rayskin (who, despite his young age, has already been totally hijacked by The Netherlands' and Europe's leading jazz scene) has been all but dillydallying over the past two years of cultural standstill. In the summer of 2020, he founded the sextet Introspections: a melting pot of styles with a unique instrumentation including vibraphones and synthesizers, that doesn't limit itself to conventional musical boundaries. Think: the rhythmic languages of Cubean and Moroccan folk music, but also hip hop and contemporary jazz with adventurous harmonic language inspired by contemporary classical music, while delivering it all with a Punk Rock attitude. The title “Introspections” comes from the idea that each piece is inspired by a personal experience/reflection of the band leader. Expect intense energy and an original sound, that will keep you on the edge of your seat, as well as offer some food for thought.
