Join Oene's Graph Score Workshop: create and play a brand new graphic score in just two hours' time!

Splendor musician Oene van Geel is much more than just a jazz violist: he improvises, composes, explores and experiments his way through jazz, Indian music, chamber music, free improv and multi-disciplinary art forms: for Oene, nothing seems too far out of reach. With full enthusiasm he dives into many exciting collaborations, using music to meet people and sounds in all corners of the world, whether it is als a composer (for ensembles such as Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the Netherlands Wind Ensemble), as part of an own ensemble (such as Estafest and Zapp4) or as musical driving force in multi-disciplinary projects (such as Boukje Schweigman and the Wëreldbänd). Oene's musical interest is as wide as a kid in a candystore, and his remarkable musicianship has been awarded with an impressive list of prizes such as the VPRO Boy Edgar Prijs (2013) and the Dutch Jazz Competition (2001). He has toured extensively in Europe, the Middle-East, Japan, India, the United States and Canada.

Today, Oene surprises us yet again with something new: Oene's Graph Score Workshop: in two hours' time, we will create a communal score and perform it! Bring your instrument or your voice, and we will start building a graphic score from scratch. The (drawing) materials will be provided, and if you would rather just watch, you're welcome to. But participating will be most fun!

Member concert
Splendor can only be the independent and free hub that it is, thanks to the members who support us. We pay them back with our specialty: music. Every year, all Splendor musicians play one concert that's free for this crucial group to whom Splendor owes its everyday existence. Combined with many other events, this means that our members have free entrance to about 80 concerts a year for €9,99 p/m (and €4,99 p/m for minima and students!) – and receive a discount for all other concerts. Pretty good deal, right?

The members enable Splendor to remain independent, which is the only way to secure real freedom in programming, experimentation, risk-taking and the promotion of young, upcoming artists. If you can think of another place without a central programming, where last-minute concerts can be planned any moment, where there is no backstage and artists and audience are constantly mingling and hanging out at the bar, where mysterious creative outbursts can be presented that are often labeled 'too risky' elsewhere, and that still guarantees high quality by unleashing the best of The Netherlands' music scene in this creative playground – you get a free membership!
