The bass trombone as solo instrument?
How does this basstrombone in the back of that orchestra sound when playing all alone? And how would it sound with piano? As a student at the conservatorium you play many beautiful pieces with the great pianists of your school, but after your graduation, sometimes for years you never perform again as a soloist.
After my search for 'new repertoire' for basstrombone, I spend the last years recording this 'standard' repertoire for basstrombone with pianist Andrea Vasi as part of my ongoing project 'Fireworks'. During the recording we found so many 'pearls' for this setting and I would love to show these beautiful pieces to our Splendor audience. As little intermezzi, we'll perform some dramatic Schubert songs for you, like the chilling 'Doppelgänger'.
