New Emergences: A Discussion About Breaking the Glass Ceiling

New Emergences is een initiatief dat als een platform dient voor discussies met betrekking tot gendergelijkheid in de elektronische muziek, in de hedendaagse en experimentele muziek en geluidskunst. Speciale aandacht gaat naar de aanwezigheid en afwezigheid van vrouwen, maar ook naar andere ondervertegenwoordigde stemmen in deze genres (denk hierbij aan blank/zwart, rijk/arm, hetero/homo/transgender, politiek correct/dissident, "normaal"/gehandicapt).

De serie lezingen en discussies New Emergences biedt een veilige ruimte – Safe Space– voor professionals - en het publiek - om hun ervaringen te delen, en om een breed scala aan perspectieven, ervaringen, meningen en theorieën te bespreken: cliché's worden zichtbaar gemaakt en strategieën worden besproken die tot verandering zouden kunnen leiden.

A discussion highlighting the current debates around gender in electronic, contemporary and experimental music

New Emergences is a lecture and discussion series highlighting the current debates around gender in electronic, contemporary and experimental music. Within these fields, it is increasingly necessary to give a platform to current advocates for under-represented voices. We believe it is important to expose existing biases that impede the richness of our diversity. By openly discussing how the current environment validifies our artistic works by the identification of our gender, we hope to challenge the existing conditions.

Keynote
Kate Moore(AU/NL) – Composer of new music creating worlds of sound for acoustic and electroacoustic media. She also writes instrumental music, concert music, sound installations and more.
