Willem Wits celebrates a contemporary Easter ritual in Splendor. He isolates himself in the Splendorzolder for 24 hours to make a concert. The concert takes place directly at the end of this marathon. It's difficult to predict what it will sound like and what it will be about, although there's high chance of inventive rhythms and stimulating stories.

Willem: "As a composer / theater maker, I usually spend months or even years working on a new performance. This Easter I'm taking up the challenge to create and perform something within 24 hours. The result will provide a deeper look into the creator's soul than you're used to: there's simply no time to sand down frayed edges. That doesn't necessarily mean that it'll be a heavy performance though. It will be unfiltered in all directions: the simple, cheerful melody that you wake up with has just as much weight as the dark thought that keeps you up late into the night, or the stupid joke you thought you'd forgotten.”

Splendor can only be the independent and free hub that it is, thanks to the members who support us. We pay them back with our specialty: music. Every year, all Splendor musicians play one concert that's free for this crucial group to whom Splendor owes its everyday existence. The members enable Splendor to remain independent, which is the only way to secure real freedom in programming, experimentation, risk-taking and the promotion of young, upcoming artists.
