Delta Pianotrio met Nuala McKenna

After working together with great pleasure for over 10 years, cellist Irene Enzlin has decided to leave the Delta Piano Trio to focus on other projects. Violinist Gerard Spronk and pianist Vera Kooper started looking for a new cellist for the trio. They met the German-Irish cellist Nuala McKenna a few months ago and were immediately touched by her fantastic playing, her passion for chamber music, her energy and infectious joy in making music. From the first note there was a strong connection and musical click. At this festive welcome concert, the Delta Piano Trio is pleased to introduce you to their new cellist. On the music stand beautiful works by Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann, among others, with an opportunity for a drink and introduction afterwards.

The Delta Piano Trio was founded in 2013 by violinist Gerard Spronk, cellist Irene Enzlin and pianist Vera Kooper. The trio has won numerous awards, including the Anton Kersjes Prize in 2020, and performs frequently in Europe, Russia, China, Korea, Indonesia and the US. The trio's debut CD, with works by Taneyev and Borodin, their second CD 'The Mirror with Three Faces', with trios by Lera Auerbach and Dmitri Shostakovich, as well as 'Origin', released in 2022 by Challenge Classics and their most recent CD 'Milking Darkness' with works by Lera Auerbach, received rave reviews in leading trade magazines such as Diapason, BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone, NRC, Volkskrant and Listen.

Cellist Nuala McKenna grew up in Northern Germany, studied in Lübeck, Freiburg and Basel and has lived in Amsterdam since 2013. She toured major Dutch halls as a finalist of the Dutch Classical Talent Award and collaborated with musicians such as Maria João Pires, Jean-Guihen Queyras and the Talich Quartett. She received the prestigious awards 'Diapason d'Or' and 'La Clef D'Or ResMusica' for her debut CD and last year released a successful second CD with 20th-century works for cello and piano. Since 2019, Nuala has been solo cellist of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and she combines this with performances as a soloist and chamber musician.
