A collective exploration and study of somatic sound and movement scores by Play As We Are and Moving strings - everyone is welcome to join!
You are invited to join an open workshop where we will collaboratively explore and learn scores for movement and sound facilitated by the creators of "play as we are": Maya Felixbrot, Alex Welsh, and Alexandra Baybutt.
During the workshop, we will:
- Present and explain the scores
- Learn how to perform them
These scores are primarily open propositions, featuring a combination of text instructions, graphic notation, and somatic movement and music instructions that arise from within the body. Thus, everyone can perform them. There's no standard but your own.
Participants in the PAWA summer workshop will actively engage, and you, the audience, are invited to join in the following ways: through observation, asking questions, and even participating practically to study and perform the scores. These activities will be adapted to accommodate a general audience. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, body/movement ability, musical instrument or vocal proficiency.
At the end of the workshop, we will hold an informal performance of the scores for ourselves and the audience.
