First edition of conversations with artists about performance
For this first edition of Blah Blah Blah, PERFORMANCE, River will be speaking with Oene van Geel and Vincent Dankelman about what performance means for them. Topics to be covered include:
bridging the gap between music, theater, and dance,
the emancipation of performance for the disabled community,
and the relationship between audience and artist. Following this conversation, the three will perform together in relation to the themes discussed.
More about Vincent Dankelman:
Vincent Dankelman is a Dutch musical theater-maker, composer, and performer.
From an early age, he has performed in productions such as The Lion King and continued to pursue this passion after his studies at the DAR in Rotterdam. Since 2019, he has collaborated extensively with choreographer and close collaborator Jordy Dik, blending his expertise in music and theater with the diverse individuals he encounters in various projects. Together, they have developed a series of productions that transcend boundaries and provide a platform for diversity and human storytelling.
His musical compositions and theatrical contributions have enriched the emotional core of numerous performances. In addition, he co-leads community art projects, including dance and music initiatives with asylum seekers and young people with disabilities. His work is defined by deep empathy and creativity, always striving to foster connections between music, theater, and dance. With his multi-instrumental background and gift for storytelling, Vincent contributes to performances that are both artistically and emotionally resonant.

Oene van Geel (1973) is a musical adventurer. Influenced by jazz, Indian music, chamber music and free improvisation, he uses his virtuoso improvisation skills and his talent for composition for a wide range of musical activities.
