Francien Schatborn and Wim Vos perform new compositions for viola and percussion
Francien embarks on a journey of discovery with percussionist Wim Vos. Alongside existing works for viola and percussion by composers such as Tigran Mansurian and Marco Schirippa, they will also present the premiere of new music by Wim Vos.
The unusual combination of viola and percussion offers a rich palette of sound colours, featuring both unpitched and pitched percussion instruments alongside the viola. The music itself is equally diverse, ranging from meditative to swinging, and from romantic to folkloristic.
Together with her fellow violists Lotte de Vries, Francesca Wiersma and Marije Helder from the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Francien will also perform, among other works, the Fantasy Quartet by York Bowen — a special treat for true viola lovers!
