This evening concert is a presentation of the second workshop, led by Splendor musician and clarinetist, saxophonist & composer Michael Moore.

Michael: 'For my contribution to the Doek improvisation workshop series I will concentrate on non-idiomatic improvisation. In order to play this music well, and to be aware of all the possibilities, the player needs a specific set of listening skills. We will do exercises designed to heighten awareness of: the relationship between players, when the music is ready for change, when to start or stop playing. We will also play some pieces (vehicles for improvisation), and examine the relationship between composition and improvisation.'
