Miroslav Petkov and Dimitar Bodurov blend Bulgarian folk with jazz and classical

Switching back and forth between principal trumpet in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and a lively career as a jazz and folk musician? It's quite rare, but Bulgarian Splendor musician Miroslav Petkov passionately celebrates the many faces of the trumpet. Today he joins forces with jazz pianist, composer and fellow Bulgarian Dimitar Bodurov. Despite their shared home town (both of them grew up in Varna), their collaboration started only a few years ago in Amsterdam where they currently live and work. Improvisations and new compositions – based on folk themes and motives – blend in unexpected ways in their new programme Preludes to Infinity, with direct references to both jazz and classical music.
Miro and Dimitar are currently working on their debut album which will be released later this year. Tonight a first impression!
