Melqui + Radio Trapani
Melqui EP Showcase + Radio Trapani (Stripped-Down)
DOUBLE BILL / Melqui premiere their full band set in anticipation of the release of their first EP 'Amarla' + Stripped Down set by Radio Trapani.
The Music of the brand new 7-piece band Melqui – founded by Argentinian-born composer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist Lautaro Hochman (1999) – is a blend of Latin-inspired and indie-driven grooves. The vocal layers, guitars, and Lautaro’s crooning fuse Elliott Smith’s intimate sound with Connan Mockasin-like harmonies. With his background as a composition graduate, Lautaro strikes out on his very own band-style in the alternative pop world.
During the first Covid lockdown, stuck in his Amsterdam apartment, Lautaro decided to transform the living room into a makeshift studio to record. Due to the Covid measures, the other Melqui members – an eclectic bunch from Brazil (Gabriel de Oliveira), The Netherlands (Siebren Smink), Canada/Korea (David Ko), the US (Sara Tompkins), and Israel (Yoad Korach, Omer Govreen) – came to the studio one by one. The result is a four-track EP to be released coming June.
Melqui will bring their support act Radio Trapani (NL/ITA) to open the set tonight.
