The newest bands present themselves in the competition's preliminaries
The Amsterdam Pop Prize is the main competition for Amsterdam-based bands in all styles. In its 26 years of existence, the Pop Prize has become an important institute in the music scene. The competition offers upcoming bands the opportunity to present themselves to audiences, media and the music industry, and to play at several of Amsterdam's renowned venues. For many participants, the Pop Prize turned out to be the starting point of a successful career: previous winners include Marathon, Ben Forte, WIES, TAPE TOY, Jagd, Sarah-Jane, The Great Communication and Yori Swart.
In the preliminary round, the bands each get 20 minutes to present themselves. Each round ends with a winner; the other seven places in the semi-finals are distributed with wild cards.
On Friday September 16th we will see: Died, INKT, Liam Pek, Lizet Aviva, Maria Stella and Pablo Massizzo.
