DuoDuo
Jawdat Shaabo (baglama) & Ammar Melhem (ud)vJawdat Shaabo and Ammar Melhem form the band DuoDuo. They met each other in 2017 in Zwolle, after they both fled from Syria. In first instance Jawdat asked Ammar for lessons, bus already at the first jamsession, they discoveren they are a real duo!
Since then they play their own music style. The musicians first arrived in Turkey before they moved on to the Netherlands. This has influenced their music live in equal ways, because of which they understand each other musically extremely well. In their music you can hear many influences; Arabic and Turkish music, jazz, pop, blues and flamenco. Jawdat and Ammar try to give the music they brought from their home country a new live in new country. Besides that they want to develop their own instruments by also play western music on them. The program exists of their own arrangements and compositions, inspired by all the cultures they have got to know on their travel. A big part of their program consists of improvisation.
