Christina Viola Oorebeek : BOOK of SAMPLES (2021-2023)
kaleidoscopic:sounds:patterns:colors
An adventure of new sounds and images - layered, repetitive, wavy patterns and color palettes. With BOOK of SAMPLES (2021-2023), composer Christina Viola Oorebeek immerses herself in the integration of her new music with 'experimental imagery' for video. Having fallen in love in with the swatch book of the fabric house, Fortin in Paris, 1825, she explores and creates images and sound transformations of favorite fabric designs from the BOOK of SAMPLES with poetic and associative freedom.
There are also two instrumental works, based on these associations and fantasies, each one linked to one of the two music video's. With recordings of these 'live' works, she created electronic music for each video. Together with still images from the BOOK of SAMPLES, she transformed them, so that movement en layers of transparence came into being. The instrumental pieces are performed by wonderful and creative musicians - Reinier van Houdt, piano, Doris Hochscheid, cello, Michel Marang, clarinets, en Erica Roozendaal, accordion.
