Matt & River Adomeit - Sibling Rivalry

Progressive Folk from the US and Ireland

Comprised of two brothers who have spent their whole lives playing music together, "Sibling Rivalry" brings forth the American and Irish folk traditions of their upbringing. Featuring Matt Adomeit on mandolin and River Adomeit on bass (though always with the potential for switching...) the duo are searching for the simplicity within the experimental, finding new ways to bring a modern feel to their traditional melodies. Originally from Connecticut, US, both Matt and River are graduates of Oberlin Conservatory and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Though they have been collaborating for over 20 years (since River was 6 and Matt 12) this will be their first public performance as a duo. For this evening at Splendor, "Sibling Rivalry" will also feature the wonderful and ever-adventurous Oene van Geel on viola. The night promises to bring the push-and-pull of melodic lyricism and rousing fiddle playing.
