Liminal Realms
The fluidity between acoustic depth and electronic explorationA unique meeting: Amsterdam Dance Event and Cello Biennale come together for one evening at Splendor. Cellist Emma Warmelink and composer/producer Arieh Chrem, known in the Amsterdam club scene as Cartopol, will bridge the gap between ADE and the Cello Biennale on October 18th.
Together, they will combine their talents to create an evening of groundbreaking music. In this unique performance, they will weave together the world of electronic music with the delicate complexity of classical instruments, with Emma and Isobel Warmelink showcasing their virtuosity on cello and violin. For this special occasion, Arieh Chrem has composed an entirely new work for violin, cello, and synthesizers, exploring the relationship between electronic and acoustic sounds within a space. The piece is deeply rooted in repetition — a principle closely tied to club culture.
Arieh Chrem's work will flow seamlessly into a carefully curated acoustic program for violin and cello, performed by Emma and Isobel Warmelink, featuring works by Ravel, Ligeti, and Saariaho. The evening will be framed by DJ sets from Cartopol, known for his boundary-pushing, genre-hopping approach. His sets will transport the audience into the world of left-field club music, guiding them through a mind-expanding night.
