Climate Justice in Seasons - Try Out

Lonneke van Straalen & TheDutchBrewhouse

Vivaldi wrote a monster hit 300 years ago. With its Four Seasons, the seasons have been palpable in the concert halls for centuries. But the world is subject to significant change. Summer can now feel like autumn with heavy flooding, and snow and an Elfstedentocht are no longer a given in winter. What do the seasons sound like in the 21st century?

Violinist Lonneke van Straalen asked composers Trevor Grahl (1984) and Composer Laureate Anne Maartje Lemereis (1989) to set the current climate conditions to music. Trevor and Anne-Maartje are inspired by the ideas of climate scientist Joyeeta Gupta, winner of the prestigious Spinoza Prize, the Dutch version of the Nobel Prize.

How can we think in terms of possibilities and not get bogged down in doomsday scenarios?
