New Moon Orchestra

Musicians from around the world, united in sound

The New Moon Orchestra brings people together – across countries, generations, languages, and styles – to make music that feels like home to everyone.

Founded by FluXus, Language Café De Sluis, NewBees, and COA Zaanstad, this unique and inclusive orchestra features musicians from all over the world: from Turkey to Suriname, Afghanistan to Iceland, and Ukraine to the Moluccas. Amateurs and professionals, young and old, perform side by side in a band that celebrates cultural diversity through song.

The music is as rich and varied as the people who play it. Every member is invited to contribute music from their home culture—songs that matter to them, that tell a story or carry a memory. These songs are then arranged by and for the ensemble, creating a shared language that’s joyful, moving, and truly one-of-a-kind.

From classical to sing-alongs, from heartfelt ballads to irresistible dance rhythms, the New Moon Orchestra shares the stage and the spotlight. Together, they create more than a concert—they create community.

Come join the celebration. This is what together sounds like!
