Resonant Dialogues

A Dialogue Across a Century

Join violinist Julija Hartig and cellist Nemanja Stanković for "Resonant Dialogues," a compelling program that explores the immense expressive power of the violin and cello duo. Following their successful collaboration at the Beethovenfest in Bonn, the artists present two essential cornerstones of the repertoire, paired with the vibrant voices of modern Serbian composers.

This concert celebrates the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth with his stark, virtuosic masterpiece, the Sonata for Violin and Cello. Ravel's piece is connected to works from four prominent Serbian creators Nataša Bogojević, Isidora Žebeljan, Tibor Hartig, Irena Popović

A profound conversation between European tradition and contemporary creativity, celebrating the power of two instruments to convey a broad spectrum of emotion—from the abstract and introspective to the theatrical and dramatic.

The series of concert Resonant Dialogues has been supported by The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia.

Julija Hartig: Violin
Julija Hartig is an acclaimed artist whose work is characterized by remarkable expressivity, refined technique, and a warm sensitivity to color, spanning repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music.

Born into a family of musicians in Yugoslavia, Julija Hartig completed her initial violin studies at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. Following graduation, she was immediately engaged as an Assistant Professor in the class of her former teacher, Evgenia Tchugaeva, at the same conservatory. She later established her performing career in The Netherlands, continuing her advanced studies in Rotterdam with Ilya Grubert and graduating Cum Laude from the Conservatory of Utrecht with Keiko Wataya.
Hartig achieved widespread critical recognition with her 2022 debut CD, Dark Velvet: An Autobiography in Music. The album was described as an "intriguing and thought-provoking musical journey" by Fanfare Magazine. This success culminated in her winning the prestigious Edison Klassiek Award in the Newcomer National category in October 2023.

Her artistic curiosity has consistently led to inspiring collaborations with contemporary composers, resulting in several new works being written for and premiered by her. She is now entering a new creative phase as a co-composer, exploring themes of identity and belonging with her new project Black Rainbow.
As a soloist, Julija has performed with numerous orchestras, including The Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Serbia, and the Chamber Orchestra Dušan Skovran. She has given recitals and chamber music concerts across Europe, Australia, and Brazil. Her recordings include four CDs of complete works by the Serbian composer Ljubica Marić.

A force in the contemporary music scene, Julija is an active member of the celebrated Duo Hartig-Broekhans and the acclaimed string octet Roctet. She is a founding member of the artistic center Splendor Amsterdam and an initiator of the GRAMMY Award-winning LUDWIG collective.
