A Brazilian Choros workshop (led by Marijn van der Linden) & Roda de Choro (led by Lonny Ziblat)
After a fantastic and very successful Roda last month (see the video), we are once again organizing a wonderful afternoon of traditional Brazilian Choros (pronounced "Shoros").
This time we start at 15h with a Choro workshop where we will present the rich tradition and history of the Choro with the help of the director of the Choro School in Rotterdam, Marijn van der Linden.
The Roda begins at 16h and is led by composer Lionel "Lonny" Ziblat (guitar/mandoline). This traditional Brazilian activity is a must for anyone who loves energetic, highly skilled but also very cozy and virtuoso music. The atmosphere is informal, with musicians gathering around a table to perform a repertoire of Brazilian Choros. A beer or a glass of wine are also very common in this setting. Along with Lonny join the great Elizabeth Fadel (piano/accordion), Marijn van der Linden (guitar/cavaquinho) & Maripepa Contreras (oboe).
With this group of extraordinary musicians, it promises to be another unforgettable experience! And there is more good news: If you are a musician and you are familiar with the Choros you are welcome to play along. Are you not yet familiar with the tradition? Or are you not yet advanced? Then consult with us and we will make sure that you can join as well. Singers of Brazilian Choros are of course also welcome! Bringing Choro sheet music is helpful, but it is recommended to play by heart. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience this party from within the atmosphere of a good group of musicians.
