Singer, guitarist and lutenist Jonatan Alvarado: "For the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of delving into the fascinating archives of the National Institute of Theater Studies in Buenos Aires, exploring its vast music collection. Filled with pieces originally composed for the great "Teatro Criollo" tradition of the early 20th century, this archive offers a rare glimpse into the state of Argentinian genres at the dawn of their gradual standardization.

After a comprehensive selection process and many hours of hearing these pieces play only in my mind, I believe it’s time to bring them to life. And what better way to do that than with a sing-along! Join me for an evening of beautiful, witty, and humorous music and poetry—some of which hasn't been performed in over a century. I'll give you a crash course on the main song types and themes of the period, share insights about the archive and its sources, and teach you a selection of my favorite pieces. No prior knowledge required!"

Splendor can only be the independent and free hub that it is, thanks to the members who support us. We pay them back with our specialty: music. Every year, all Splendor musicians play one concert that's free for this crucial group to whom Splendor owes its everyday existence.
